For over 30 years, THE POINT has been fighting for environmental justice with the goal of clean air and improved community wellbeing. If you live, work, or go to school in Hunts Point - we want to connect on an ongoing basis to make decisions together, learn from each other, and build collective power. Join us for our October Community Convo, where we will be discussing how land is currently used in our neighborhood and its impacts. So much of the Hunts Point peninsula is industrial, meaning the land around us  is mostly used for manufacturing goods, warehouses (storing goods), and distribution centers (shipping goods). In recent years, a specific type of warehouse, called Last Mile facilities, has emerged as a threat in our neighborhood. These facilities operate 24/7, and are used to store goods from online businesses But having so many in our neighborhoods means even more truck traffic, air pollution, and health issues This is why THE POINT CDC, along with other organizations across the city, have fought for policies that protect our communities against these harmful impacts.
